Mt. Adams Chorus

The Chorus is happy to be part of the upcoming events:
1) Advent Prayer Service, Sunday December 11, 4:30pm at the chapel of Purcell-Marian High School, adjacent to St Francis DeSales Church, East Walnut Hills.
2) Advent Prayer Service, Wednesday December 14, 7:30pm at St. Mary Church, Hyde Park.
3) Mass, Vigil of Christmas, Dec 24th, 4:30 at St Patrick Church, Taylor Mill, KY.
4) Mass, Christmas, Dec 25th, 11:00am at the chapel of the Sisters of Notre Dame, St. Joseph Heights, Park Hills, KY.

We will also be singing Mass at the Chapel of the Sisters of Notre Dame on a regular basis. The tentative plan is for the Second Sunday of every month (starting in December) at their Sunday 9:30 Mass.

As always, it’s an honor (also a lot of fun) to sing the National Anthem for the Reds in Great American Ball Park.

The Mt Adams chorus has been getting together most of the summer (remember, we are a social group that likes to sing a bit). Actually it hasn’t been all fun and games, we’ve been working on long-term plans…like trying to decide if we should compete in the 2012 International Choir Games to be held in Cincinnati. After much debate and discussion, the answer has been an overwhelming YES.

Two events are coming up soon:
1) A prayer service in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks which occurred 10 years ago. The Service will be held at 5PM on Sunday, 9/11 at St. Francis DeSales Church. All are welcome to attend.

2) We have been invited back to sing the National Anthem for the Reds v Cubs game at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday, 9/14. If you’d like to purchase tickets to joins us, please send an email to mtadamschorus@gmail.com stating the number of tickets and your contact info. Field Box seats are available for $17 and “nose-bleed” seats are available for $7.50 Hope to see you there.

Everyone is invited to participate in an evening prayer
celebrating the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to be Christ’s love in the world.

We are getting together on Holy Thursday for a commemeration of the Lord’s Last Supper.  Please join us at 7:30pm, in the Convent Chapel at St Joseph Heights (next to Notre Dame Academy).  The Mass will be followed by a simple, pot-luck community supper.  Please bring something to eat and drink and share with others.  The entrance to Notre Dame is Hilton Dr., right across from St James Ave. on Dixie Highway in Park Hills, KY.  Park behind the convent and look for a marked door.

On Sunday March 20, we had the chance to sing at St Catherine of Siena Church in Ft. Thomas.  We were the “PRELUDE” to a very inspirational talk given by Rachel Muha.  Her son Brian was killed in a violent crime which took place in 1999.  She shared her thoughts and experience with us and she also shared her remarkable faith and the process of forgiveness that she has experienced.  To learn more about her son and the foundation she has established to honor him and to promote education in the inner-city, visit The Brian Muha Memorial Foundation.

The Chorus will be singing at 3 upcoming Masses at St. Mary’s in Hyde Park.   The Masses are at 5:00pm and are part of the parish’s Young Adult Ministry Program called Grounds for Faith. The dates are February 13, March 13, and April 10.   The Mass is followed by a pot-luck and a discussion of the book Contemplatives in Action: the Jesuit Way.

To thank the members of Pilgrim Chapel for their support in 2010, the chorus will be performing a concert of Christmas Music, Wednesday Jan 5 at 7:30pm. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will collection to support St Jude Parish in Port au Prince Haiti will be taken. Hope to see you there.
